Outdoor Kitchens in Mallorca
For eight months of the year the terrace is the dining room, and a kitchen out there turns it into the house. An outdoor kitchen here is not a barbecue on a stand. It is cabinetry, a worktop, a sink, refrigeration and cooking, chosen for a place that gets full sun, salt air and a winter with nobody in it. Describe the terrace and we pass the request to kitchen companies and kitchen specialists that build outside.

What survives a terrace
The materials are the whole question. A worktop out here takes hours of direct sun in August, rain in winter, and salt on every wind from the sea. Porcelain, sintered stone and dense granite handle that; quartz, wood and most marbles do not. Cabinetry is stainless steel, powder-coated aluminium, a marine-grade board behind stone or tile fronts, or masonry built on site and faced in stone or rendered.
Then the appliances. An outdoor fridge is a different machine from an indoor one, rated for the temperatures a terrace reaches. A built-in grill or a plancha on a gas or an electric supply, a sink with hot water if the cooking is serious, and a cover or a pergola over all of it, because the sun that makes the terrace worth having is also what ages everything on it.
And the winter. A kitchen that is shut for four months wants drains that empty, appliances that can be isolated, and surfaces that do not hold water. It is the part people forget in June and remember in March.
What an outdoor kitchen usually includes
- A position on the terrace that works with the wind, the sun and the route from the indoor kitchen
- Masonry or framed cabinetry, faced in stone, tile or render, or in metal
- A worktop in porcelain, sintered stone or granite, with a splashback where there is a wall
- A grill, a plancha or both, on gas or electricity
- A sink, with the water and waste run out to it
- Outdoor-rated refrigeration and, where the house wants it, an ice maker or wine storage
- Storage that keeps its contents dry
- Lighting for the evening, on its own circuit
- Shade: a pergola, a sail or a roof, sized to the kitchen and the table
- Continuity with the indoor kitchen, in the same stone or the same lines
How an outdoor kitchen usually runs
-
01
Position and services
Where on the terrace, what the wind does there, and how water, waste, gas and power reach it. This decides more than the equipment does.
-
02
Design
The run, the worktop, the cooking, the seating, the shade, and how it reads with the indoor kitchen through the glass.
-
03
Materials and appliances
Chosen for outside. This is where an indoor supplier and an outdoor one part company.
-
04
Build
Masonry or framed cabinetry built, services run, worktop templated and fitted, appliances installed, shade erected.
-
05
Finish and first summer
Sealing, lighting, and the adjustments the first season asks for.
How your request reaches a company
Mallorca Kitchens is a comparison service. A request for an outdoor kitchen goes to the kitchen companies and kitchen specialists on our list; they quote the work and carry it out, and any agreement is between you and the company you pick.
-
01
Describe the job
Tell us the property, roughly what you want and where it is. Photographs and a rough plan help, though neither is required.
-
02
We match it
The request goes to companies that work in your area and take on this kind of job at this size.
-
03
They quote you
Each company contacts you directly with its own price, timing and approach. We do not set any of it.

You compare and choose
Put the quotes side by side and take the one you want, or none of them. Using the site costs you nothing.
Which worktop works outside?
Porcelain, sintered stone and a dense granite. Quartz fades and can move in direct sun, wood needs a roof and an owner, and marble outdoors is a decision to be made with open eyes. The worktop hub compares them.
Does an outdoor kitchen need a roof?
Not to work, but to last. A pergola, a sail or a fixed roof keeps the sun off the surfaces and the rain off the appliances, and it makes the kitchen usable at midday in July. A terrace kitchen that is meant to last is usually built under one.
What about the winter?
Drains that empty, appliances that can be isolated, covers for what stays out, and surfaces that do not hold water. A kitchen shut for four months is asked to survive more than one used every day.
Gas or electric?
Both are used. Gas suits a grill and a plancha and needs a bottle store or a supply; electric suits an induction plate and needs a circuit that carries it. The position on the terrace often decides, because one of the two is easier to reach there.
Who does the terrace around it?
The kitchen is a kitchen company’s job. The terrace, the paving, the planting and the pergola as a structure often belong to a landscaper, and the two are frequently the same request sent to two companies.
