Kitchen Cost Guide for Mallorca
A kitchen has no single price, and the reason two quotes for the same room can be far apart is rarely that one company is expensive. It is that they have priced different kitchens. This guide sets out what moves the figure on the island, so that the quotes you receive are comparable and the questions you ask are the right ones.
Where the money actually goes
Cabinetry is usually the largest single line, and it is also the one with the widest range: a standard fitted range, a premium fitted range and a bespoke kitchen made for the room are three different purchases that all answer to the word cabinets. The worktop is second, and its cost depends on the material and on the metres of it, which is why a large island changes the figure more than a large room does.
Then the work that nobody photographs: removing the old kitchen, moving water and power, plastering, tiling, flooring and the electrical load that modern appliances ask for. In an older Mallorca property this is where the surprises live. Stone walls, old drainage and a supply sized for a different era are normal here and they are priced by the company that has seen them, not by the one that has not.
Appliances, lighting and the level of finish sit on top, and each is a decision rather than a given. Integrated appliances cost more than freestanding ones and change the cabinetry around them. Lighting under, inside and above the units is a small line that changes how the whole room reads.
What makes two quotes for the same kitchen differ
The calculator above gives a range from published island market rates; these are the variables behind it, and behind any quote you receive. Each one is a question you can put to a company, and you can ask about every one of them.
- Whether the layout stays or changes – a new layout moves water, waste and power
- Standard fitted, premium fitted or bespoke cabinetry
- The worktop material, its thickness, and how many metres of it
- An island or a peninsula, which adds worktop, cabinetry and often a hob or a sink
- Integrated appliances against freestanding, and how many
- Whether the electrical supply carries the new load or needs upgrading
- How much plastering, tiling and flooring is included, and to what standard
- Lighting: under-cabinet, inside units, pendants over the island
- Removal and disposal of the old kitchen
- Delivery to the island, and access to the property once it is here
- What the company includes after fitting, and for how long
How a kitchen price is built
The order matters. The decisions at the top are cheap to change and the ones at the bottom are not.

Project type
A full renovation, a new kitchen in a finished shell, a cabinet replacement, a bespoke kitchen. Each starts from a different base, because each includes a different amount of work before a cabinet is even chosen.

Size
Not the room alone. The run of units, the length of worktop and whether there is an island are what the size is really measuring.

Cabinetry level
Standard fitted, premium fitted or bespoke. This is the largest multiplier and the one most worth deciding before asking for prices.

Worktop
Chosen by material and priced by the metre. The choice interacts with size, which is why the same marble is a different line in a small galley and a large open-plan kitchen.

What else is in scope
Appliances, electrical work, plumbing changes, flooring and lighting are each a yes or a no, and each moves the figure on its own.

Standard, premium or high-end. It reaches everything: fronts, handles, the edge of the worktop, the taps, how the lighting is done.
The Mallorca variables
Most kitchens fitted here are made somewhere else. Cabinetry from the mainland or from Germany crosses on a ferry, and worktops are cut from slabs that have to reach the island first. Lead times are longer than a mainland showroom will assume, and a project timed for the property being empty has to be planned backwards from the delivery, not forwards from the demolition.
Access is the second local variable. A village house in the Tramuntana, an apartment above a narrow Palma stair or a finca at the end of a track each change how a worktop gets into the room, and a slab that cannot make the turn is cut in two, which changes the design.
And the buildings themselves. Thick stone walls are a pleasure to live in and a nuisance to run a new supply through. Old drainage may not be where the plan says it is. Coastal humidity and salt reach cabinetry, hinges and appliances in ways a mainland kitchen never sees, and the material choices that survive them are part of the price.
How to make three quotes comparable
- Send every company the same written brief, with the same photographs and the same sketch
- Ask each one to state the cabinetry level and the worktop material it has priced
- Ask what is excluded – flooring, electrical upgrades, removal, making good are the usual gaps
- Ask for the lead time from order to fitting, and what happens if the delivery slips
- Ask who is responsible for the plumbing and electrical work, and whether it is in the price
- Compare the scope first and the total second
Where the figure goes next
Where does the range in the calculator come from?
From published Spanish and Mallorca trade sources rather than from this site, one citation per rate. The range is the figure for your choices plus or minus a fifth. It is an indication of what the island charges for that specification, not an offer, and no company has seen your kitchen when it is calculated.
What is usually the biggest cost in a kitchen?

Is it cheaper to keep the layout?

Why do lead times matter more here?
Most cabinetry and every worktop slab reaches the island by sea. A project timed around the property being empty has to be planned from the delivery date backwards, and a quote that names its lead time is worth more than one that does not.
Do prices on Mallorca include IVA?
Ask, and ask in writing. Some companies quote with tax included and some without, and the difference is large enough to change which quote is cheaper.
